Award winning, Pacific Northwest author, James M. McCracken is best known for his young reader series inspired by his teen years spent in a seminary boarding school.  The series, A Charlie MacCready Mystery, follows the young lad as he solves one mystery after another while trying to solve his biggest mystery of all, what happened to his missing parents.

McCracken was raised for the most part in Hillsboro, Oregon. He retired from his day job at age 42 and moved to the high desert of Central Oregon to pursue his writing. He is a longtime member and the current president of the Northwest Independent Writers Association (NIWA).
