James "Greg" Lopez, 48, died peacefully on May 20, 2008. Greg was born in Hillsboro on Oct. 22, 1959. He was raised and educated in Hillsboro, graduating in 1977. He attended Portland Community College and the University of Oregon.
Greg worked at James River Corporation for a number of years before starting his own business, Greg's Metro Carpet Cleaning in 2004.
Survivors include his son, Derek Lopez; daughter, Sadie Lopez; and their mother, Barb; significant other, Maya Morey and her sons, Elijah and Caleb; his parents, James and Margaret Lopez; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debi and Jim Cox, Kristi and Scott Rowe; nephew, Daren Cox; nieces, Kelsey Cox, Veronika and Sierra Rowe; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Greg was preceded in death by a sister in 1970, brother in 1986, grandfather in 1999, and a grandmother in 2000.
Greg's favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities. He was a very active spectator and especially proud of Derek's running at Hilhi as well as Western Oregon. Greg coached Sadie's successful summer softball teams for many years and enjoyed watching his daughter in cross-country, soccer, and basketball at Hilhi. Greg was also a dedicated Oregon Duck fan.
